School's Over - but Starts Again Next Week!
After this semester, all I can say is praise the Lord. If you've been keeping up with my blog, you all know about the infamous programming class I took this semester (turns out it's a weed-out course). Going into the final on my programming (C++) class I had a B. Going out, I had an A- (97.5% on the final, 91.8% overall). Getting the test back, I found that I made a transcription error. In a multiple choice question, I filled in the wrong bubble on the scantron sheet - even though I wrote the correct answer on the test paper. It took 2% off my exam, a total of .2% off my total grade. Straight A is 92%. At this point, I was .2% away from an 'A'. Why not try going for the gold? I did. I spoke with my teacher about it. She looked at my test, seeing that I didn't forge anything she gave me the A. It really was just the Lord. I didn't even expect the A-, as I had blown the first two tests.
The other class that gave me some heartbreak was my speech class. The instructor doesn't give out your grade except at the mid-term and the end-of-term. I knew I had an A- at the mid-term. I was hoping I had raised it up to an A, but the grading was so vague I really didn't have a clue.
So, after doing quite possibly my best job yet on my final speech (this one was an inspirational speech), I was handed my grade with instructor comments. B+. I had dropped without knowing it. I was crestfallen. I spoke with the instructor, trying to figure out how my grade had dropped (in all his critiques after each of my speeches he never gave indication that there was anything wrong). Then I went home.
I later called the instructor at his home with the intention of asking for the A- (never hurts to ask), but I had an even better surprise in store! Turns out, in calculating my grade, he looked at the student just below me (???). This student had the B+. I had an A. Yeah!
That was May 1st. I'll be back in school starting May 9th, going through August 8th. Taking trigonometry, composition I, and intro to social sciences. I'll be taking classes Tues & Thurs. I'm really excited about the 4-day weekend. I should get to go visiting some - which I didn't get to do on my break! grrr & grrrs. We had an open-house at the Kayak Corral to liquidate old inventory. It fully demanded my presence.
Oh, by the way! I don't think I've told many of you yet! I let go of my job at the grocery store (no, they didn't let go of me). With our new location on U.S. 12 (we moved from the house end of Dec - zoning violation), my Dad has been able to offer me a salaried position with commissioned bonuses. Much better atmosphere and work than at Busch's. Also, when we've down time I get to study. So yeah, it works out well for me and the shop needs me. Everyone's happy. Well, maybe not Busch's.
Going back to my 4-day weekends. If anyone wants to go on some outdoorsy trips, let me know. I'm hoping to go kayaking (particularly a trip across one of our Great Lakes), and mountain biking. If that sort of thing is something you enjoy, call me. If you're my friend you know the number. If not, stop reading my blog.
Peace everyone!

Congrats on the A's. So you mentioned you're working for your dad... you just didn't mention what exactly you're going to be doing. For all we know you'll be sitting on your hands all day.

Noah, thanks for the congratulations. I'm mostly working on the salefloor and taking customers out to the river to try out boats. Saturdays keep me hopping all day. The other days you never know.

Not to be offensive, but I can't understand what would drive a person to read blogs of people they don't even know when all the blog talks about is the author's life.
To me, it makes perfect sense to read my friends' blogs. It's a neat way to stay in tune with their life. But a total stranger whom I have never spoken to, in real world or the internet? Please enlighten me as to why someone would do this. If it's a good enough reason, I'll consider retracting my statement.

'Cause it's a good way to get to know people. :D That's my answer.
But I've got your number, anyway. Of course, that is assuming that you have the same number as your sister!
Well done on the A's. I loved programming myself but I've got the feeling what you're doing is slightly harder than anything I attempted!
So, when are you planning on doing the trip to the Great Lakes?
Opps. Sorry. Was supposed to call about that.
