Definately Engineering... i think
Well, I'm pretty sure I'm going to go for engineering. I've finished registering for next semester for some of the needed prereqs.
Unfortunately, because I didn't take advanced math in school, I'll be doing 3 years just in general education creds. I'll finish up with everything else but the math in two years, so I figure I'll fill the gap with pursuing a certificate in technical writing.
No real idea of what kind of engineer I want to be. Here are the ones I was thinking of:
Mechanical Engineer (#3 on CNN's list of top most in demand degrees for the class of 2005 - #4 on their list of lucrative degrees - a nice collaboration, wouldn't ya say?).
Materials Science & Engineering (Sounds a LOT more interesting than mechanical engineering, but not as practical as the job market is about 1/20th the size).
Engineering Physics (Love to do this, even if I choose another discipline in engineering I'd like to take this as a dual major. I really like the physics class I'm taking, but just a physics degree isn't much to get a job on. This gives me the equivalent to a BA in both physics and engineering. Tourble is, I still have to choose a concentration).
Also, there's a really neat Applied Physics doctorate program offer by U of M. But that's way off in the future.
Matter of fact - all of this is off in the future!!! I still have yet to see if I've got the smarts for the next few years of gen ed math!
Please do keep me in your prayers. I really want to be sure that I'm making the right career choice.
