BYC!

Hey, I just got back from the Beliber's Youth Camp in Ohio. I know, I know, it's Monday, right? And it ends this Friday. Yeah, well, I have to watch the family kayak shop this year. Maybe next year I'll be able to go.

Anywayz, I have to say that BYC is more awesome than I remembered it. While WYR and Lousiana Camp, in my opinion, outrank the services, the fellowship rivals that of even Winter Youth Retreat. I think it's just because I get to hang out with people more... even if most are a couple years younger than me. Any I'm not saying the services are bad, they're just trageted to a different, spiritually younger, audience - IMHO.

Anyhow, I met some new people, and renewed old aquaintences. It was cool. Oh, and I didn
t sneak out this year. *pats self on back* You think maybe I'm getting more mature?

I Found A Way to Satisfy My Male Conquest Ego

I have never hunted. I've never been a good fisherman. Until lately, I have never satisfied the whole "conquest of another being" urge that is present in the males except by beating people at digital games.

BUT, lately I have found something that is extremely satisfying - trapping turtles. Not just any turtles, mind you, but snapping turtles. Our pond is infested with them. I've caught three so far this year, two with my trap and one with a net. I might have four, haven't checked the trap yet this morning. I've got my eye on an 18 inch turtle though, can't wait till he wanders into my trap - specially since I get a dollar for every inch across on the turtle (another especially satisfying aspect of trapping these things).

So yeah, I might not ever be the mighty hunter, but trapping is a lot of fun.

Vanity of Vanities - All Is Vanity!!!

Yes, I am currently under judgment for my vain ways... and my stupidity.

It all started Monday. I decided that I would bath in the sun and achieve the awe-inspiring tan (not that many people would ever see it, I just wanted to see what I would look like if I had a tan - maybe I would transform into a movie star - who knows?).

So, I began my diabolical plan to destroy my skin (tans are signs of damaged skin). I went out to the back parcel of our property where there would surely be nobody to see me and laid out on my lawn chair in a pair of shorts while listening to "The Millionaire Next Door." I had no sunscreen on (slows down the tanning process, ya know). After about an hour, I rolld over and let the sun back my back (this is in the hottest part of the day, btw). After another hour I went inside to prepare for my workout. I felt great.

Four hours later I was well on my way to achieving nicknames like "Pinky" and "Lobsterback."

That was Monday. This is Thurday. I still hurt.

YQN Stuff!

Man am I excited! We are currently working on revamping the Youth Quake Website. When we're done, we'll have a professionally designed logo/opening-image on our front page (Designed by John Ball, the Bro that does Bro Lonnie Jenkins images).

We'll also have ALL the YQN articles ever printed - that is, from '84 till present - typed up in a searchable text format. This means that someone will be able to search for, say, the word "modesty" and the search will pull up every article that ever mentioned the word modesty in it.

We will also have all the YQN issues printed from '84 - '95 digitally preserved and available online - you'll be able to see it just as it appeared so many years ago! Kinkos is working on that now, I'll have it uploaded to the site by Wednesday. The logo will be done by the end of this month, and the transcribing should be completed in time for us to unveil the new website along with our August - September issue! So yah, a lot happening. It's also fun spending money that's technically not yours, I just hope that Youth Quake doesn't run out before all the projects get done.
