My New Bible!

I meant to tell you all about my new Bible. I ordered one for my birthday. I had a Thompson Chain KJV that wasn't just any ol' sword - it was a William Wallace sword (you know the type, 7 ft long...). Anyhow, at 7 1/2" by 10 1/2" it was a bit too bulky to lug around everywhere .

So, when I got a 50% off coupon from our local Christian book dealer, I went in and ordered a nice 5 1/2" by 8" calfskin KJV. It's not the real supple leather I wanted (see Nelson Signature Series Bibles for that... wow! Unfortunately, they're out of print right now, though coming back in Oct.), but it's still a sturdy bible and should hold up for my one year bible study over and over again.... and it'll get more supple with use.

Yes, I finally decided to try a one year Bible study plan - instead of doing the insurmountable task of reading the Bible through cover - cover. I always seems to get hung up on those first few books. Anyhow, I was recommended this plan by Brother Trevor (of the Two Message Ministers Blog fame) at the forums.
Quote:
"What I particularly liked about this plan is how it tried to
bring you through the Bible chronologically. It split the OT and NT up so you read a little of both each day. Then, it splits those up chronologically.
For instance, you read in Samuel about David going to the city of Gath and then acting mad(crazy). Then it takes you that same day to read the Psalm David wrote right after that experience, Psalm 34. "
Anyhow, I started this because my pastor challenged us to log all our hours spent on the "Message monitor" for one week. Then the next week spend the same amount of time in the Word. Because of Spring Break, I spend about three time the amount of time I would normally spend in front of the tube - seven hours total!

That's an hour a day for this week. Last night was my first time and I adapted Bro Trevor's plan. It went surprisingly well, well enough that I'm making plans to keep it going. I'll let you all know how it goes!!!

My Spring Break has Taken Flight...

I think my Spring Break just sprouted wings and flew out the window.

Yes, I'm still working on that programming assignment. 20+ hours spent and I'm just a couple steps ahead of myself at the time I posted last (at least, I think I am).

grrrRRRRRRRRRR!

I'd rather do CALCULUS!!!

Even Calculus can't be this bad. I haven't done calc yet, but I know it can't be this bad. I haven't been this frustrated with schoolwork since I had to work of logical proofs of Geometry without an instructor.

Okay, here's the deal: I'm on Spring break from college. But I can't enjoy it until I get my programming projects out of the way. Mission? Program a roman numeral calculator using functions (C++ prog language). So I hammered away at it for two hours Thursday. Didn't make a lick of sense and I got nowhere. Hammered away at it for five hours on Friday. I got it working... that is I got it to perform the necessary calculations. But I didn't get it working to spec (using functions, output formatting, etc).

No big deal... so thought the little man with the invisible hammer over his head. That hammer fell in a BIG WAY this morning when I found out that in order to fulfill prog specs, I had to go back to formula (yes, I was about as mad as Mr. Osborn in Spiderman I). So now I'm looking at this thing and I really honestly can't figure it out. I just had to vent.

IN OTHER NEWS:

Speech class! Going great! It's easy and fun. This latest speech was a demonstration speech. We had to bring a physical object to class and teach with it. Some people brought ties, others wrapping paper.... I brought my kayak. I taught the class the ancient art of the Eskimo roll.

Now, I know you quicker ones are thinking "doesn't that require water?"... essentially yes, since you are rolling a kayak and flipping it back up. Genius me circumvented this problem with imagination hats. Everyone had to build a hat from newspaper and wear it on their heads for the duration of the speech - so they could imagine water. Making a room full of college students look like 1st graders was entirely rewarding .
