The Life & Times of Josiah Cornett

This blog reveals just a tidbit of me. More than anything else, it's for friends who want to catch up with me or for my own writing pleasure. Also, for your educational pleasure, check out my philosophy corner "JC Speaks." Just click on the link to the right.

?cOnFusEd?

Gaahh! All those credits that I mentioned in the last post - a lot of them won't transfer to U of M. Arrr and Grrr. 7 of my 12 credits this semester won't transfer either!

Now I don't know what I want to be. Maybe business isn't right for me - I know I don't want to be a business manager or an accountant. I don't want other people's problems and I don't want a job with all tediousness and no creativity. Here's some fields that sound interesting to me right now:

Business Analyst
Investment Banker
Engineer (of some sort)
Computer Scientist

Oh! I took the Myers Briggs Type Indictator test - I'm an INTP. Apparently we're one of the rarer 16 personality types, making up only 1% of the population. You should be lucky to be reading such a rare individual's blog.

So what does it all mean? Well, here's a profile of the INTP. It's really accurate, down to the kind of music I prefer! I'm using this to help me predict what fields I might enjoy. I think it's been helpful so far.

Well, gotta go study. See Ya!

I'm Baaack!

Hey everyone, I know it's been two months since I updated, but really - there's more important things to life than blogging. I've had a lot of experiences lately, especially with this being my first semester in college. I can't relate all these experiences here, but if you'd call me, I'd be happy to tell you about them (you'd think the phone was out of fashion these days, sheesh!).

Anyhow for those of you who would like an update in the Life of Me, here;s the low down: I'm currently taking college classes at our community college (wccnet.edu), it's not as pestigious as going to university, but it's a whole lot cheaper - about 1/8th the price (and when you're talking in thousands, that's a lot). Anyhow, I'm currently taking Intermediate Algebra (a prereq to Calc. and Linear Algebra), Critical Thinking (a really neat class), Conceptual Phyics (fascinating stuff!) and a Student Success Seminar (I could've done w/o that). I'll be posting some blogs on my experiences - especially in that philosophy class, but this blog is pretty much to give you, the reader, a frame of reference for future blogs.

My declared major is business - though I'm open to changing it. I'm hoping to transfer all my gen ed into U of M and attend their business school - a highly selective school (its rated #3 in the nation for B school) in which only 4% of their student body are transfer students. Hard? Yes. Improbable? Not if I give it my best effort and it's God's will for my life. Be in prayer though. Ok, so here's the classes I need to take before I go there (I included the course #'s in case someone is so fascinated hat they want to look up the descriptions ofthe website:-):

PHY 105 Conceptual Physics(2)
PHL 123 Critical Thinking(2)
MTH 169 Intermediate Algebra
MTH 176 College Algebra
MTH 178 Trigonometry
MTH 191 Calculus I
MTH 197 Linear Albegra(1)
PHL 250 Logic(2)
Eng 214 Literature of the Non Western World
ENG 116 English Composition I
ENG 226English Composition II(1)
COM 101 Fundamentals of Speaking
ECO 211 Principles of Economics I
ECO 222 Principles of Accounting II
PLS 112 Introduction to American Government
PSY 100 Introduction to Phsychology
Accounting I(3)
Accounting II(3)

(1) Part of my back up system. Eastern Michigan's B school isn't very slective, so if U of M doesn't accept me, I'm also tailoring my gen ed's to mesh with both tranfer guides. EMU's tranfer guide is here and U of M's is here.

(2) A semi-elective in either humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences. The only reason I say semi-selective is that EMU gives you a list of the elective classes you may select. So I'm kinda bound by that :-(

(3) Must be taken as a guest student of U of M's arts liberal arts and sciences school beofre transferring into Ross (U of M's B school).

So there you have it folks. I do promise funner blogs in the near future -this is just to give to a frame of references. OK, I'm off to workout and buy a router.
